Social Media: Keep in Touch with Limitations

Social Media: Keep in Touch with Limitation

Are you a social media user?

Or do you use any social networking site?

If you're able to read this then it's a YES!

Online social media have gained outstanding growth and popularity which has led to  attracting attention from people specially the teenagers from new generation. Social media sites have provided a platform whereby the youth can create groups and pages and end up building connections and opportunities  by updating various topics to discuss. It becomes their lifestyle and it makes their lives easier and efficient.

But in some point of it, while the users are unconsciously becoming addicted to those social networking site they didn't notice the negative effects of it to themselves. Almost of us are using Facebook. According to one of the studies in Psychology, teens who use Facebook more may have a psychological disorder. Some teens are having less interest in their studies. Some are being bullied. Some becomes a victim of cyber sex and many more.

In those kind of instances, to avoid the negative effects, we must know how to balance our time in  using and interacting in social networking sites and other things in life. In short we should know when we are going to log in and log out, when we are going to stay online or offline.

What if you are already addicted? How you are going to fight against that addiction?

  1. Focus. Limit the number of social networks you use to only those most relevant to your work and personal life.
  2. Use a schedule. Schedule your use of social media. One way to avoid problems is to schedule your use of social networking sites in the same way that some productivity experts suggest scheduling reading of email messages.
  3. Set a timer. If after trying all of the above, you’re still having difficulty keeping track of time when you use social networking sites, trying setting a timer of some sort, with an alarm.
4. Engage yourself to other things. Try to find something that will make you enjoy aside from social media. Engage yourself to sports. Try to focus on your studies. Find your real interest, explore and learned more.

This might not help everyone, but it’s worth a try.
